Directors

Emma Barnard
Managing Director

Emma Barnard: In December 1998, Emma was approached to get involved with a new Scottish magazine that was to be launched in June 1999. From her position in the Agency Sales team at the Scotsman Publications, she knew the Scottish marketplace well, and immediately identified with the gaping hole in the marketplace for a quality Scottish lifestyle magazine. Delighted to be able to fulfill her ambition of working on a high-profile magazine in Scotland, she relished the challenges offered by Caledonia magazine, and set up Caledonia's original advertising department in January 1999. The magazine launched, the advertising team grew, and both were incredibly successful, exceeding all expectations. Emma began to take a wider commercial role within Scott House Publishing throughout 2000, getting involved with marketing, promotional and planning activities at a senior management level, and in June 2001 she was appointed Managing Director of Scott House Publishing, Caledonia's publisher.

Julia Munro
Finance Director

Julia Munro: Hailing from the Isle of Lewis, Julia is Caledonia's Financial Director, controlling every aspect of the financial matters relating to Scott House Publishing. This covers everything from budgetary planning and invoicing to credit control and personnel. A member of the original cast, Julia joined Caledonia in May 1999, prior to launch of the first issue. She had previously studied Business Studies at Lews Castle College and spent some time in the hospitality trade before accepting the challenge of setting up the finance side of Caledonia. When it comes to chasing money, Julia's heard all the excuses from 'the dog's chewed the cheque' to 'the office has burned down'. And on the personnel side, having fantastic, friendly & happy people working for Scott House Publishing Ltd speaks volumes. But we are always on the look out for new talent!

Gary Crawford
Circulation Director

Gary Crawford: Gary joined the Caledonia team in November 1999 following a career spanning such varied industries as interior decorating and hotel service management. However his 8 years with John Menzies Distribution in various management positions has given him a firm grounding within the publishing industry. As Circulation Director, Gary has responsibility for all Caledonia magazine sales and distribution functions. His creativity in this area has already been rewarded with substantial sales increases. He is also our key contact with the Audit Bureau of Circulation. Gary's comprehensive geographical knowledge of Scotland is legendary making him an invaluable information source. Follically challenged Gary can often be seen leather-clad on his motorcycle, nipping daintily through the traffic queues as he zooms into Edinburgh each day from his home town of Kinross. Away from work Gary is a keen hillwalker as well as a member of a very select group known as the "Blue Brazilians"

Administration

Lynda Arthur

Lynda Arthur: Lynda fulfills two very important roles at Caledonia. As Subscriptions Coordinator she diligently looks after Caledonia's vast and growing subscriber base. As Receptionist she is the first point of contact for anyone calling or visiting our offices. Combining these two roles is no easy task, but Lynda is no ordinary girl. As a "Biker Chick" Lynda is well qualified to carry out many tasks at once, not only looking where she is going, but also trying to pre-empt the moves of all the Edinburgh car drivers around her in order to stay in one piece. Not very easy when your legs are not even long enough to reach the ground!

Lynda joined Caledonia from John Menzies Distribution in February 2000 and is now established as an integral part of the team.
